Dr. Cara MacMullin BSc ND (Naturopath)
Dr. Cara MacMullin, ND, graduated from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia with a Bachelor of Science advanced major in biology. From here, Cara went on to complete the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, Canada’s only accredited four year, full-time professional program in Naturopathic Medicine.
Cara has gained extensive clinical experience during her internships at both the Robert Shad Naturopathic Clinic and Sherbourne Health Center in Toronto, as well as maintaining a private practice. In addition to this 4 year Naturopathic program, Cara has also been certified in Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, a technique designed to reduce the visible signs of aging in addition to addressing the underlying patient imbalances.
Cara works in general family practice treating all conditions from acute to chronic, paediatrics to geriatrics, and well patient visits. Following an eclectic approach, Cara utilizes all naturopathic treatment modalities including nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, and lifestyle counseling. Patient care commonly involves nutritional assessment and dietary plans, identification of dietary sensitivities and nutritional deficiencies, nutritional supplementation, individualized treatment plans, and the integration of medical diagnostics and scientific research with natural treatments.
Cara has added experience and interest in the following areas: weight management, detoxification, stress management, immunity, endurance athletics, digestive disorders, endocrine conditions (e.g. thyroid conditions and diabetes), women’s health (e.g. PCOS, endometriosis, fertility), hormonal imbalance (men and women), allergies, skin conditions, and mental health concerns ( e.g. anxiety, depression).
Cara believes strongly in a patient-centered approach to health and well-being, and encourages patients to be active participants in their individualized treatments. Knowledge is essential in one’s journey to optimal health and wellness, and she will continually work to educate and empower patients to elicit change, thereby improving the quality of their lives. Cara also encourages a comprehensive, team-based approach to wellness, and is ready to work with other health care providers to assist patients in achieving their goals.
Cara is licensed and in good standing with the Board of Drugless Practitioners-Naturopathy (BDDT-N), and hold professional memberships with the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND).
